I am curious to why you are running a fold technique with the backside guard and center. Is there a reason? I don't understand why you wouldn't want to make it simple and double the 2i to backer? Thanks...

Howdy!

I think you must be talking about that midline from splitbacks diagram that's currently on the main page. Honestly, that's just the way the head coach seems to like it ran. Coach Roark and one of the line coaches were both offensive linemen at the University of Kentucky in the 80's and they love to figure out blocking schemes... who has the best angle... and can we pull that guy thru this hole, etc. It's a lineman thing... I wouldn't understand! Actually, you're quite right... the backside tackle could be doubled with the center slipping off to seal the backside OLB. Another thing is that the week I posted that diagram, we were planning on running the midline quite a bit, so I didn't draw it up 'exactly' like we tend to run it. (I have wondered what might happen if, after a game, a coach from the opposing team went up to the head coach and said, 'Damn, coach, we got your whole playbook right off the net!" NOT a pretty picture, I can tell you! Truthfully, we always try to run the midline with a tight end and to the TE... (you probably know what we do with the psOT and TE, too, since you seem to know the midline. Let's just say we ain't lookin to pitch that often!)

Thanks for the answer coach. I thought that it looked a little weird to be folding.
